Form and function are at the heart of every kitchen design and this Milano Rockfort Kitchen in Chelmsford is no different. Our designers are able to work with your existing space, they sometimes have the luxury of a blank canvas with an extension or a new build, with this particular job some building work was required to maximise the existing space and we are lucky to have some before images and plans so that you can really see the changes.
This home is a stunning late Victorian town house in Chelmsford and when Mr & Mrs S bought it they began a renovation process that in some rooms was purely decorative and in others, like the kitchen and utility room involved some planning and building work. As you can see there is nothing ‘wrong’ with the existing kitchen, it just appears dated – especially when compared with the modern decorative style of the new owners. We are lucky enough to have a before image and a layout of the area from the sales literature when the house was purchased so you can really appreciate the changes.
These are our technical drawings showing the new layouts.
The resulting kitchen and utility are much more in keeping with the look of the house and with the minimum of changes use the space so much better.
The kitchen furniture is the very popular Rockfort from the Milano by Tec range and is also used in the utility room as well.
This installation uses two classic design shapes. The kitchen itself is a classic ‘single galley’ with an island and the utility is an ‘L’ shaped layout. The single galley is the simplest layout, ideal for a narrower setting or as part of an open plan space – this kitchen is probably half way between the two.
With a Shaw’s Classic Square Undermount Sink and a Grohe Red Duo Chrome Tao the single galley part of the main kitchen has a Kashmir Gold Granite work surface. In the centre of the run is a Bertazzoni Professional Range with a Britannia Extractor Hood. There is also an Indesit built in dishwasher. The Rockfort range is painted to order with the kitchen and utility finished in ‘Stone’ and the island in ‘Olive’.
An island can provide separation between two distinct areas in a kitchen and in this design one side houses built in undercounter Indesit fridge and a CDA 30 cm wine cooler with the other a seating area/breakfast bar.
The worktop on the island is a gorgeous solid oak block which has a real warmth to it and is very tactile.
A new feature archway leads to the utility room:
The utility room itself is pretty comprehensive, the only thing missing is a cooker and it could be a kitchen in its own right. It has an Indesit fridge freezer and washing machine with a CDA tumble dryer and a Neff built in microwave. The sink is a Shaw’s Classic white ceramic sink with a Blanco Cleo mixer tap, again the work surface is Kashmir Gold Granite.
It is very satisfying for us at Tec when we can go and see our completed projects and share them with you. This Milano Rockfort Kitchen in Chelmsford with utility room has been a great project from start to finish. Contact Phil or Julie on 01621 850115 for your dream kitchen.
